Message After swapping in semi-split DPs, I couldn't get one of the O2s out of my old stock DPs (which I knew were good because I ran the diagnostic prior to the swap). So I swapped in an unknown condition O2 sensor from a parts car.

Started up for the first time and ran ok, but shortly after, smoke started coming from just in front of the passenger side firewall. Hood was up and my Dad was watching everything as it was started. He saw the smoke and watched as the wires on the sensor side of the ECU-O2 connection caught fire. Shut the car off and smothered the fire with a shop rag. Still not sure how a bad sensor could cause that much resistance to build up, but fairly certain it was the sensor as that was the only thing changed in that electrical train and it worked fine before.

ymmv
